Women's Aid Training Unit provides specific training on the issue of domestic violence for a range of voluntary and statutory agencies and service providers including- health professionals, refuge workers, Gardai, community and social services staff, Helpline volunteers, and community groups. We use a wide range of materials, research and practical experience from Ireland and other countries to design training courses to meet the specific needs of each organisation/group. Specific training modules are developed in partnership with the relevant service providers in line with the recommendations of the 1997 Task Force on Violence Against Women. Women's Aid has been involved in the provision of training to the voluntary and statutory sector for a number of years. Our Training Unit was formally established in 1997 in response to the increasing demand from groups and agencies for specialist training to enable them to meet the needs of women seeking protection, advice and support. The Training Unit is part funded by the Eastern Regional Health Authority. Our other main source on income is through fee charges for courses. |
