Women's Aid aims to keep the issue of violence against women on the political agenda. By highlighting the extent of the problem and the inadequacies of the existing systems, which respond to violence against women, it aims to challenge the system and influence policy makers into action.

Women's Aid has successfully lobbied for changes to the domestic violence legislation, for the establishment of the Government Taskforce on Violence against Women, for the implementation of the recommendations subsequently made by that Taskforce, as well as for the implementation of the recommendations of research it has conducted.

Its current lobbying objective is to achieve implementation of the recommendations of its most recent research Safety and Sanctions: Domestic Violence and the Enforcement of Law in Ireland.
