16 Days of Action of Violence Against Women

  • 16 Days of Action is part of a Global Campaign for Women's Human Rights.

  • The initial 16 Days Campaign in 1991 was co-ordinated by the Centre for Women's Global Leadership.

  • It starts on 25th November- International Day Against Violence Against Women and ends 10th December- International Human Rights Day.

  • Highlights the prevalence of male violence

  • Creates awareness of such violence as a Human Rights violation

  • Promotes women's leadership in taking on the issue

  • Anyone! Any individual or group, in any location, who wishes to highlight violence against women, can take action for the 16 Days.

  • Organise a public event or action

  • Highlight violence against women through local media

  • Women, groups and organisations could be organised to join in events or actions in your area
